pari-2.1.7 released

Dear PARI enthousiast,

  this message is to announce the release of version 2.1.7 of the PARI/GP
system. The new release can be downloaded from

 ftp://pari.math.u-bordeaux.fr/pub/pari/pari.tgz

This is a BUGFIX release for the stable version 2.1.6 and essentially
addresses Configure and compilation failures, esp. with recent versions
of the gcc compilers (gcc-3.4 and 4.0 in particular).

In short, use this release if you previously met with problems. There is no
compelling need to upgrade from 2.1.6 otherwise.

===========================================================================

I plan to release unstable version 2.2.11 later this week; the next stable
release is scheduled to be a major one, version 2.3, before the end of the
year.

Have fun,

    Karim.
